Giants Win!

I am so pleased to witness the Patriots lose this historic game. Everyone and their moms believed Patriots were going to win for sure. Oh well. It could have been an unprecedented, undefeated season for them. Too bad. And Tom Brady looked like he was going to cry. :)

And I WON $20!! Yes! I love winning money... more than seeing Tom Brady cry almost.

TGIF

Thank God It's FEBRUARY! So much to celebrate this month. And, believe it or not, I'm beginning the February festivities with the Superbowl. I'm currently watching on Blu-Tooth's new hi-def 40 inch HD plasma TV!! Dude, I don't even know what that means except the image is really pretty. Crisp vibrant colors and no fuzzy lines. And from what I understand, all the households have one of these. It's quite the rage.

In celebration of Superbowl 42, I made guacamole for our taco bar. I also plan to make some Nestle Tollhouse cookies for dessert. As you can see, domesticity = special day.

I aspire to be domestic on these other special days:

February 5 -- Super Fat Tuesday
Making jambalaya and watching election results wearing underwear and mardi gras beads.

February 7 -- CHINESE NEW YEAR!
Maybe I'll mix my own dipping sauce for hot pot at Blu-tooth's.

February 14 -- Valentine's Day
Making chocolate chip cookies for all my hos and bitches.

February 18 -- President's day
Sorry, I'm straight chillin. Maybe I'll make chili and clean the bathroom.

February 29 -- Leap Year
Thinking of bringing twinkies and hostess cup cakes to Lady Pun's Leap Year party at her new downtown loft. Seems appropos with things you should do and eat once every four years. Ooh, maybe I should bring some acid too.

Happy February to All!

Interesting news

With all that is happening, I have been mostly consumed with the WGA strikes (cuz it's closely connected to my gig) and the primaries this year... it's so exciting! I love that there is no clear winner in either parties, unlike the upcoming Superbowl... I hate that the Patriots are favored to win. They are so fucken smug, especially Tom Brady. I just want to kick him in the groin. But I digress.

Despite my narrow interests lately, I found these articles most fascinating.

Fuck Colts

Although I did not watch the Superbowl (I didn't even know the time it was on) and went shopping instead with Lady Pun to the Vintage Fashion Expo in Santa Monica (where we each bought beautiful fabulous purses!), I am writing with extreme sadness and regret that Da Beloved Bears had lost. They were a far better team and deserved to win. Not that I really know (or care) but loyalty is a requisite for Chicagoans. So the Colts can go fuck themselves.

Despite our loss, I am still proud of our team and our city. To pay tribute, I present to you fellow Chi-towners Kanye West and Common's Southside Superbowl. I guess no Superbowl Shuffle II this year so this will have to do. SOUTHSIDE!

The Super Bowl Shuffle

You can thank me later.

Dude, I love youtube. It's the best.

Victorious

I don't follow football, but Blu-tooth alerted me that my hometown football team totally creamed the New Orleans Saints by 39-14. Damn. Yeah, yeah... I know the New Orleans Saints were the underdogs and everyone besides Chicagoans were rooting for them because of the tragedy the city had experienced, but... you know, cry me a river. Winners win. It's as simple as that. And can I tell you how we are such awesome winners... and perhaps win the Superbowl this year? I still remember our last Superbowl victory in 1985. I was in fifth grade and EVERYONE in Chicago was Bears crazy. Even I was Bears crazy. So crazy that I had a crush on Jim McMahon (eww!) and also memorized the Superbowl Shuffle. I still remember the lyrics to this day. If you give me a quarter, I will rap it to you. If you give me a dollar, I will rap it and do a little dance too.

In honor of today's win, I present the chorus of this masterpiece to you:
We are the Bears Shufflin' Crew
Shufflin' on down, doin' it for you.
We're so bad we know we're good.
Blowin' your mind like we knew we would.
You know we're just struttin' for fun
Struttin' our stuff for everyone.
We're not here to start no trouble.
We're just here to do the Super Bowl Shuffle.
Very classy shit.

"Twin Nipples"

Last Friday night, Tonkhero and I ventured into an off-beat journey with the Midnight Riders, a group of about 300-400 bicyclers who reclaim the streets every second Friday of the month. The theme of the month was "TWINS". And yes, we were a pair of breasts, even though everyone called us Twin Nipples.

Some people didn't understand our costume because they're stupid idiots. But the smart people thought it was very funny and creative. People gave us strange looks when we were a single boob though. That's when I replied that I had breast cancer.

The strangest remark a cyclist said to me was, "That looks like my daughter's nipple on your head." I gave him an unusual look and said, "That's a really weird comment." He immediately became embarrased and said that he has a 9-month old and he was actually referring to his kid's baby bottle... yeah right.
The experience was very liberating. Since there are hundreds of us, there was no way that we could all pass the intersections of the streets in a timely manner. So when the light turned red, either organizers or volunteers would plant themselves and their bikes in front of cars and buses who had the right of way, so that the rest of us could pass and stay together as a large mass. It was really frightening at first, because drivers would get pissed and honk or even come out of their cars and bitch at the bicyclists in their faces. I honestly thought a fight was going to break out, or that some psycho LA driver would become ballistic and run us all down. Still, the human roadblocks wouldn't budge. It's quite a public service, I think.

The crowd were all carrying beers, drinking as they rode. Some of them were visibly drunk but, surprisingly, I only saw one crash, and I think that resulted more from lack of coordination than inebriation.
The SKEET brothers made me take their picture. It's funny and all, but they thought they were so clever... homeboy on the right kept bragging that he came up with the idea and made the shirts at 9:00pm. I pointed at the nipple on my head and said 10:15.
We started in Echo Park at 10:30 pm. Then to Downtown, Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Skid Row (which I thought was tasteless actually), and ended up here at Mariachi Square in East L.A. We reversed the route and returned to Echo Park by 1:30 am. We ended the night with more beer, pork rhines and tacos from this awesome taco truck next to the ghetto Vons in Echo Park. Very yummy...

Don't say it's so!

Michelle, I have been waiting for years. YEARS! You deserve a gold. You have always deserved a gold. With each disappointment, I have stayed by your side... despite even the last one when you lost to that ugly talentless redhead girl, I never left your side. Not once.

Now you're telling me your groin hurts too much? WTF? You're a skater, girl! Your groin is suppose be in pain! Groins of winners are on fire! FIRE!

No Chief on the Basketball Court

I'll be the first to admit that I have not kept abreast with the politics at my college campus. However, to my credit, not much has changed. It's 2006, yet U of I continues to use a Native American Chief as a mascot for the university. It's really disgusting.

But to my delight and surprise, I learn today that the National Collegiate Athletic Association created a policy that requires the university to drop its Chief Illiniwek mascot and logo because the image is "hostile and abusive". Illinois was one of 18 schools deemed by the NCAA executive committee last August to be using improper imagery or mascots. The organization decreed that any school continuing to use the images after Feb. 1, 2006, would be barred from hosting postseason competition and could not display the image at any postseason tournament.

The university, of course, is appealing and calling the policy "arbitrary and capricious".

Someone might want to inform the university that before they make such an argument, they should advise their student body, mostly made of drunk fraternity guys and dumb sorority sisters, to stop wearing the sweatpants with the big fat Native American face on their asses...

Thank you, O'Melveny

Lakers v. Pacers at Staples Center
Box seats. Free food. Free booze. Caramel apple.
I get the perks of a firm without actually working at one.
Ah... I love working for a union.
LIVE BETTER, WORK UNION.
