If it's not FREE, at least it's AWESOME

The Supreme Court heard oral arguments today regarding a First Amendment free speech case that involved the banner above. OMG. These kids are AWESOME!

Here's the skinny:

The case involves Joseph Frederick, a then 18-year-old high school senior in Alaska who was suspended for 10 days after displaying a "Bong Hits 4 Jesus" banner across the street from his high school during the Winter Olympics Torch Relay in 2002. When he and his friends displayed the banner, then-principal Deborah Morse ran across the street and seized it. Morse initially suspended Frederick for five days for violating the school district's anti-drug policy, but increased the suspension to 10 days after he refused to give the names of his fellow participants and quoted Thomas Jefferson on free speech.

Again, this kid is AWESOME.

Did you know?

While California has one lawyer for every 240 people, there is only one legal aid attorney for every 8,373 poor people.

Damn.

This is why I love the legal profession

or maybe it's the advertising industry that I should love. I can't tell anymore, both seem the same sometimes with their slick and deceptive ways.

Girls Gone... Good?

Good news for the morning! "Girls Gone Wild" Creator, Joe Francis, plead guilty to two felony counts of violating federal record-keeping laws by failing to document the ages of young women in his infamous videos. In other words, he's busted for videotaping underage girls doing naughty, naughty things.

The judge imposed a $500,000 fine. When the judge asked Francis if he understood that, given the felonies he was admitting to, he could be sentenced to as many as 10 years in prison, he seemed surprised. "Um, I don't understand that," he said.

I guess that's why he got BUSTED! Such a dumb ass!

I wish I worked on this wage claim

The State Labor Commissioner ordered to shut down Neverland Valley Ranch and fine Michael Jackson $169,000 for failing to pay his employees or maintain proper insurance.

Dude, Neverland is fucken trippy. Check out this Neverland website I found... I believe it was made by a fan. In fact, there are many Neverland websites on-line, made by a number of fans. You know, it's these obsessed fans who allowed their kids play with:

South Dakota Shits on Women

South Dakota lawmakers Wednesday approved the nation's most far-reaching ban on abortion, making it a felony for doctors to perform any abortion, except to save the life of a pregnant woman. The proposal must still be signed by Republican Gov. Mike Rounds, who opposes abortion.

Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America said, "This bill contains an inadequate exception to protect a woman's life and no other exceptions -- not for rape, not for incest, not even to protect the woman's health.

A middle finger to Gonzales

Members of the audience, some wearing black hoods, stand up and turn their backs on Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, rear center, as he speaks at Georgetown University Law School Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006. Answering the Bush administration's critics, Gonzales said Tuesday that warrantless surveillance is critical to prevent another terrorist attack within the United States.

The Abu Ghraib outfits are so good. They should be the anti-torture demonstration uniforms for 2006. Such a Fashion Do... especially if you're trying to fuck with Gonzales!

It is not (yet) confirmed...

Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito turned aside Democratic attacks on his judicial record and credibility at contentious confirmation hearings Wednesday... . C'mon now. "Attacks" from the Democrats is like having a snow cone at the zoo. Apparently, however, his wife was shaken up and left the room in tears. I guess she doesn't like snow cones.

Or maybe she was ruminating about the aborted child she and Sam conceived when he was in law school. After all, Alito couldn't possibly afford to be a father and an active leader in Concerned Alumni of Princeton. Whenever anyone mentions CAP, she breaks down in tears. Poor woman.

SAY NO TO ALITO!
